Unsafe Tattoo Removal

While there are many safe and effective ways to get rid of a tattoo, there are also many unsafe methods. For example, some of those with unwanted tattoos take matters into their own hands and attempt to sand-off their tattoos. This is extremely dangerous and can easily result in substantial scarring as well as infection.

There are unfortunately, a few home-made videos online of consumers using power sanders on their unwanted tattoos. This is very upsetting as some consumers may attempt to emulate these videos and end-up causing severe damage to their skin. Under no circumstances should you attempt to take a tattoo removal short-cut and attempt to sand-off your tattoo.

While safe techniques like using a topical tattoo removal cream or gel does involve the removal of the top layers of the skin, it is done gradually to allow the skin to heal.

Another unsafe tattoo removal practice is using T.C.A. (Trichloroacetic Acid). While some will argue that using TCA for tattoo removal is safe, consider the fact that almost all skin care professionals recommend using TCA only in the presence of a trained professional. This is because TCA is a strong acid and has the potential to cause severe damage to the skin. While most reputable TCA tattoo removal companies will instruct their customers to dilute their formula, some consumers may decide that they are tired of waiting and will choose not to dilute the formula. This will often result in the consumer burning their skin which generally results in a substantial scar covering the tattoo. In some cases, consumers will need to go to the emergency room to treat their wounds.
